Troops of the Special Engineer Regiment killed a gunman when they intervened in a communal crisis between Iyimagwu and Ekpomaka communities. They reportedly came under fire from an abandoned building and returned fire, killing the victim and recovering one G3 rifle, 50 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition, 16 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, and four hand grenades. Another report stated that many people, including women and children, died in the encounter. It is assumed that at least 5 people died. |
